I've been waiting for a baby to arrive this week, so I never knew what was happening on any given day. I still made some plans.
I had a lunch date with a guy I'd met online. We had coffee last weekend, and he wasn't disgusted by me enough to never want to see me again. Yes, I still think about physical self this way. But we really weren't clicking and I don't think we'll be seeing each other again.
My friend's water broke on Thursday night, so from then on I was just waiting until they needed me to come over and stay with their 4 year old. C and I get along really well, but spending two days with a girl that age can be exhausting if you're not used to it. I was at their house from Saturday morning about 8am until late last night when her other Mommy came home to stay with her.
Their house is full of carbolicious food, and very little protein. That's probably another reason I'm exhausted today. I decided not to measure this week until tomorrow, because I'm sure I'm completely bloated with water. I get all those red dents on my skin if it touches anything for too long.
Though, I did get some exercise. Pushing a stroller is good for your arms -- more tricept work than I expected!

I have been musing this week on a passing thought I had when I weighed in last week. I wasn't all that happy with my weight loss and I thought "Why won't my body do I what I want?" Instantly I had the answer. "That's the wrong question. It should be why won't I do what my body wants?" I know what it wants. When I do those things its happy and feels good and I lose weight. You know drink lots of water, get some exercise, not eat a bunch of crappy nutrionless carbs.

"First" Week
After having developed a low-carb lifestyle a couple of years ago, and kept on with the knowledge that they were not so good for me, it's not too hard to get back into eating better. I really haven't done any meal planning, but I've managed to stay away from the junk and keep my meals well balanced.
Saturday, I had dinner with a couple of my best friends, for a bit of a mutual birthday celebration and we went for Mexican. One of my friends is about two weeks away from having a baby, so she can have whatever she wants. I did nosh on way too many chips before dinner, but I ordered a grilled salmon dish with a yummy creamy sauce that came with veggies. Being Mexican it also came with beans and rice, but they were brought on separate small dishes, so I just set them aside and ignored them. I had a couple of beers, but that was at least better than the sugary Margaritas that I would have liked. The place we went makes really awesome Margaritas. We polished off the night with a stop for ice cream. Okay, not so good. What I liked was that it was a birthday dinner, and I had some things that were full of carbs, but just the ones I wanted. The others (rice and beans, 'ritas) were things I chose not to eat. It was all about choices. Just because I was choosing to eat some carb-y things, didn't mean I should just throw in the towel and eat every bite of junk that came my way.
Despite that celebration, I'm down about 4 lbs. this week. I'll post the details in the sidebar, later when I'm at home with all the numbers. Hopefully, I can keep that up for a couple of weeks for the motivation, until I'm back in the groove. Long term I've usually not done much more than 1 lb./week.

Damn Mouse
I managed to do my Pilates yesterday, but no luck today. I fell asleep for over an hour around 9:30pm last night, so I decided to just go to bed. I was excited that I was going to get a full night's sleep. Unfortunately, the mouse that has invaded my apartment was also excited. It kept rustling things and irritating me. At two a.m. I was sweeping under my bed trying to get at whatever it was making noise with. And I shifted a big pile of books and magazines from next to my bed (throwing out a bunch of stuff in the process). I'm not normally an obsessive cleaner, so it was kinda funny for me to be hauling out the broom and dust rags in the middle of the night.
So, no sleep. Alarm went off this morning, and I couldn't budge. I can't get more sleep, if I can't get to sleep. If I can't wake up in the morning, I can't work out before I leave the house. If I work out when I get home (cardio, anyway), I will only be making my sleep problem worse since several days a week, I don't get home until after 10 pm. If this isn't fixed by the next time I see the Drug Doc, I'm getting sleeping pills.
On the food front, yesterday was okay, today has been okay. My plan for this week is to just stop eating all the obvious high carb stuff: Sweets, things with flour, rice, pasta, potatos, bread, etc. I had a flour tortilla yesterday though, now that I think of it. And some bread. If it weren't for Fitday I wouldn't remember this stuff at all. Anyway, that will get my carb intake down to a moderate level (probably under 60). Then I can make plans for real low carb for next week.
I set a trap for the mouse before I left for work. They like peanut butter, I hear.
